OneOhio Body Established For Opioid Lawsuit Judgment
Introduction
According to assessments from the Lake County commissioners, the regional body holding authority over how funds from the OneOhio Solution opioid litigation settlement are allocated is largely established and a decision on the "bellwether trial" against pharmacy chains for "irresponsibly distributing drugs" will soon be coming to a resolution.
OneOhio assures a settlement that takes into account how severe the crisis has touched every area of the state, and it prioritizes money for initiatives that focus on long-term healing, criminal justice, and public awareness initiatives that support Ohioans' overall health and well-being.
Furthermore, OneOhio makes sure that the money is adaptable and kept throughout time as a strategy to assist the state in battling the growing drug problem.
In addition, the Ohio Attorney General revealed late last year that the state had reached an $808 million agreement with the three largest opioid distributors, placing Ohio in the lead for financial aid for towns devastated by the addiction crisis.
A recent meeting of Region 13, which includes the counties of Ashtabula, Geauga, Lake, and Portage, an Ashtabula County Commissioner was selected to serve as interim chair. He said that the county is adequately serviced and represented. And since Region 13 is one of the fully-functional entities, the county is already collaborating with our attorney general's office and personnel to ensure we comply with what will probably be the regulations. While certain areas of the state are moving swiftly without necessarily producing as much, others are slightly more difficult.
